About
Hi. I am Elisabeth Ida Ward, the curator of Vikingaheimar Museum in Reykjanesbaer, Iceland. The museum opened in 2009 with plenty of potential: a purpose built, modern style architectural gem; a Viking ship that sailed across the North Atlantic in 2000; and portions of an exhibition created by the Smithsonian Institution. But it takes a lot of management to utilize resources properly, and when the recession hit Iceland late 2008, that made it even more of a challenge. This blog is about my attempts to get the exhibition to fit into our community, about meeting the management challenges that confront us, and about how much fun museum work can be. I really welcome feedback.
